Located in the heart of Kofu, OTOWA BASE cultivates a new lifestyle where nature and the city are in comfortable harmony.
It is scheduled to be fully renovated and opened in January 2025 as an exchange-style communal residence in the great outdoors with a variety of community spaces. It will create a base where people, activities, and the future will gather and interact.
Multiple shared spaces and shared equipment are available at the Activity Base where people, activities, and the future gather and interact. You can also share barbecue and camping equipment and bicycles etc. to fully enjoy the environment of Kofu, Yamanashi.
We will open Everyone’s Room, a place where people can learn and raise children together. It is a community square for intergenerational sharing, where children can gather after school to help each other with homework assignments, or adults can read books to children.
The space, which makes use of the existing Japanese-style room, can be used for regular events or as a play space for intergenerational activities such as karuta and board games.
It can also be used as a relaxation space – why not enjoy some yoga on the tatami mat?
Activity Box is a shared space for experiencing the attractions of Yamanashi.
A warehouse on the premises is used as the Activity Box, where barbecue and camping equipment, shared bicycles, sports equipment, and even fishing equipment are available for sharing. Here you can also find a shared corner where you can immediately experience Yamanashi’s activities anytime.
The Community Lounge built on the premises of OTOWA BASE will host regular indoor events. Not only can it be used for independent study or as a co-working office for remote work, but the kitchen can also be used as a café for interaction between immigrants and local residents.

Can I move in even though I cannot speak the local language?
Since Kizunaya is a share house where residents interact actively with each other, we receive many comments from residents that they are able to study the language by interacting actively with their housemates. Many residents have just begun their studies or are visiting Japan for the first time.
In particular, sharehouses with the concept of international exchange tend to have many people who are interested in foreign languages and cultures and want to speak English in their daily lives. Rest assured, many have actually improved their language skills since moving in!
How much does it cost to move in?
Initial fee of 44,000 yen and the first month's rent and utilities must be paid within 3 business days after the reservation is confirmed. If you wish to arrange for the purchase of a bedding set, a separate bedding fee of 10,000 yen will be charged. (Bedding set includes sheets, mattress pad, futon, duvet cover, pillow, pillowcase, and blanket.)
*Rent and utilities for the first month will be prorated from the date of move-in.
